What is better than spending a gorgeous sunny evening with The Pilkington family (who obviously love each other)? Absolutely nothing! This family is so sweet, and their little boy is growing up so fast! I did Gauge’s maternity and newborn photographs. It’s hard to believe he’s two years old now! One of the absolute joys of my job is to watch my clients and their children grow. While I was photographing, Gauge, Shelby, and Danny enjoyed hanging out. They sat in the grass and took a stroll next to the river. All in all, It was an easy session full of smiles and laughter.
One of my favorite parts of this session was capturing video alongside the photographs. There are some things that video just captures differently. Where photographs are moments stopped in time, videos show the way Gauge’s hands move and the way the wind blows his hair. To me, having both video and photographs from a family session gives you the very best of both worlds. Something to hang on the wall, and something to help you feel the wind, and the child’s chubby fingers. Summer is my favorite time to add video to family portraits, make sure to ask me about adding video to yours!
Seeing the Pilkington family again brought joy to my heart, and capturing these memories for them is such a special privilege! We loved the gorgeous end-of-day golden hour in Fort Collins, near the river. Not to mention it gave the pictures such a rich quintessential summer feel! I love how green the grass and trees are this year. The pictures ended up drenched in vibrant color, and how the flowers swayed in the breeze for the video of the session!
