The challenge for the 2nd week of Project 52 was to notice the white space or negative space in the image and why it’s there. In this shot, I loved how small my girly looked sitting on the sofa and how the light was landing on her. I wanted to make sure not to get too close in to her to where I was taking away the impact of her size. The resulting shot also showed me how big she’s gotten and how she’s really not a baby anymore.
The challenge for week 3 is Filling the Frame, which is basically the opposite of this last week’s challenge. I’m excited to see what subject matter I can come up with that’s worthy of taking up the full frame and doesn’t need much negative space to convey the story. Please share your images on my facebook page, if I have enough participation, I’ll start adding your shots to these weekly blog posts as well!
P.S. I’m looking for a couple of girls who are juniors in high school interested in being a Senior Rep for Dear Kate Studios. These girls will receive a free Mini Senior Session and have the opportunity to earn products as well as a free session later in the summer. If you know anyone that attends high school in the Loveland or Fort Collins area that may be interested, please have them email me at kate@dearkatestudios.com to apply!
