The very first time I photographed a newborn I felt like I discovered a calling. In home newborn photography is such a unique experience. I get to be there with you in one of those first days with your brand new baby. Your birth experience is fresh in your mind. Your home is abuzz with a quiet hum of new life, new parent nerves, and a hushed reverence of the sleepy little baby who has taken over your heart.

In home newborn sessions take place within the first two weeks of baby’s arrival. I come to your home with all of my blankets, hats and props and set up in the room with your best light. Most of the time it’s your living room or somewhere with a big sliding glass door. If there are any special items you’d like included in your session, such as a family quilt or special hat, I’ll take a look at those and decide how to incorporate them. You’ll crank the heat up before I arrive so that your house is nice and toasty for baby. If we are shooting images with siblings or mom and dad too, we typically start there. I like to get those taken care of before the older kiddos get bored and mom and dad get too hot! After we finish up there, you’ll feed your little one while I set everything up.

Getting baby good and sleepy is key for these gorgeous posed images. We takes lots of breaks for you to feed baby as needed. Perfecting each pose so that you can remember those tiny little toes, sweet little fingers and fresh little face. Typically, an in home newborn session takes about 3-4 hours mostly because it takes time to settle baby into a good deep sleep. As I work, you will enjoy all of the comforts of your own home and we’ll chat about your sweet baby and how life is going with your new addition. I love listening to your stories and sharing mine.

After your session, I’ll retouch and edit your images to provide you with beautiful artwork to remember this time in your little one’s life. You’ll receive all of the digital files from your session and also have the option to purchase professional quality prints, albums and canvases at a reasonable price. It’s so important to me that you print your images and don’t just let them live on your hard drive! I love providing you with those digital files for archival and online sharing purposes too!

It is best to book your in home newborn photography before baby arrives. I take only a very limited number of newborn clients each month because babies like to come in their own time.
