I love newborn babies. The way they feel in your arms, how they just kind of melt into you all curled up with that sweet baby smell. I was so blessed to spend the morning of Juliana’s 10th day snuggling with her and taking her newborn pictures in her home. Can you believe she kept her mama waiting 12 days past her due date? I think she was well worth the wait! Don’t you just love her sweet little lips?!
I’m now booking for newborns October and beyond. If you know you’d like newborn photos with Dear Kate Studios, please contact me ASAP so that I can get your due date on my calendar. I take a very limited number of newborn sessions per month due to the unpredictable nature of child birth and due dates 🙂 Please enjoy a complementary maternity session for any newborn session booked before December 31st, 2013. (Sessions do not have to take place in 2013) You can see Matt and Marisa’s maternity session by clicking here and in case you didn’t get enough of Juliana, here is the slideshow from her session <3

I firmly believe that babies have a mind of their own as to when and how they should come into the world. That’s part of the reason I only take a coupld of newborn sessions a month. You just don’t know when a baby will come early or be 2 weeks past due. Brody was breech when I met his mom and dad for their maternity session just before 37 weeks. They had an appointment scheduled the following day to decide wether to schedule a c-section or try to flip him. When I heard from Katie, they had set a c-section date so I emailed back to schedule thier newborn session and get their baby on my calendar within his first 10 days of life. The next email I recieved was that Brody was born! He rocked his newborn session at 9 days old. Slept like a dream and even wore a little bandana like his daddy does when they go backpacking. I love that we were able to incorporate some of Derek and Katie’s favorite things into Brody’s newborn photographs with a mini a-frame tent and little red lantern! If you’d like a custom photography experience for your new baby, please contact me well before your due date. You never know when that little one will decide it’s their birthday!

You know that pregnant mom that looks like she’s smuggling a basketball under her shirt? Totally Katie! We had a little bit of a crazy evening for Derek and Katie’s maternity session in Fort Collins trying to wrangle their pups, Russ and Dakota. I was so happy to have a shot where they are both looking! These sweet doggies are not the only babies in their family anymore. Brody was born just 11 days after these photos were taken! So glad we were able to capture the joy, excitement, and anticipation that is the last days of pregnancy before Brody made his early appearance!
I’m still offering a complementary Maternity session with your newborn session. I so love having maternity photos from my second pregnancy and looking back at them. I’ve also really loved capturing those moments for new parents to be over the past few months! Contact me at email@example.com to talk about how I can help you remember your pregnancy.

Eleanor had a mind of her own as to when she should be born. Arriving 11 days after her due date, she’s stolen her family’s hearts. Big brother Henry is especially proud and was so excited to hold Eleanor during their newborn session. You can tell these two will be lifelong friends. In case you missed it, you can check out this family’s maternity session here. I’m still offering a complimentary maternity session with your newborn session. Contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org

I met up with Katie on a chilly, and very windy, spring day to document her fourth pregnancy. This baby will be blessed with 3 big brothers, but the question remains, boy or girl? We’ll find out in just a few more weeks!
P.S. I’m guessing girl. I have no history of being right or wrong though so don’t count on my gut for this one 😉
It’s amazing how technology keeps up connected these days. I went to high school with sweet Charlie’s mama and we reconnected through Facebook and then in person with the Pregnancy Support Group of Northern Colorado as I was ending the near of my pregnancy with Andrew and Erin was happy to be out of the first trimester. It was a blast catching up with Erin as we watched little Charlie sleep and documented those first days of his little life. If you are expecting and looking for a place to connect with other moms-to-be, check out meetup.com for some amazing groups in Northern Colorado.
